MATPlus is a nonprofit that uses jiu-jitsu as a social technology to transform children's lives — building confidence, discipline and opportunity, on and off the mat.
Who we are
MATPlus was born on the mat. Our founders, black belts with decades of experience teaching children, saw jiu-jitsu change lives again and again. We are not an academy and not just a charity: we are a methodology that uses the values of jiu-jitsu (respect, discipline, resilience and self-confidence) to help children grow and find their path.
Co-founder & Head Instructor
Black belt and former Alliance athlete, Ricardo has competed at the highest level of jiu-jitsu and MMA. Today he is a coach and a community leader in Virginia, dedicated to showing how jiu-jitsu changes lives.
Co-founder & Head Professor
A black belt for more than 16 years and a Physical Education graduate specialized in kids' jiu-jitsu, Gabriel combines technique, education and movement to help every child grow on and off the mat.
